My name is TUYISHIMIRE Joselyne and I am 21 years old. Born in Nyarugenge district - Kigali. I have only a mother. We were born 8 in my family; five of my brothers were killed during the 1994 genocide.
I live together with my mother. She does a small business for a living. Most of the time she is away and I have to take care of my small brother.
I dropped out of school after Secondary 3, (9th grade) my mum tried paying school fees for the three of us but couldn’t. None of us were able to complete secondary school. My mother is also taking care of my cousins who lost their parents in the 1994 genocide.
I Knew Esther’s Aid for the first time on TV news, and later I came and registered in catering. I had tried to work in a restaurant before but I got fired after few weeks because I did not have enough skills. But now I have learned a lot since I came to Esther’s Aid school. It is a small school with a very high standard compared to other schools. At E.A we are also taught others skills such computer usage, entrepreneurship, hospitality, cooking, bakery, job readiness and character building through the word of God. We are taught to be hard working, love one another and forgive one another.
I thank God and Esther’s Aid because of the training offered to us for free. I am excited because they will be no more rejections when I apply for job.
